Art 200: 2-D Design

Final Project:  Nature Study

Samples of Mixed Media Nature Studies

these are book-format projects that use some digital tools (Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.) and some traditional media (colored pencil, marker, ink, etc.).

Often, photos are edited and enhanced, scaled to size, then printed. The prints are trimmed, then positioned and mounted by hand Ñ glued into the book.

Some designers will sketch, render or paint individual illustrations using whatever media they have skill with. Then the illustrations are scanned and edited further using Photoshop. This can enable the freshness of a hand-illustrated image, but the convenience of duplicating, scaling and altering the image digitally. The Artichoke study, below, uses several images repeatedly Ñ sometimes scaled or enhanced with colored pencil.
